Creative Workwear

July 27, 2017

Although you can look incredibly smart and chic in corporate workwear, it's hard to incorporate masses of colour into an outfit without it overstepping the line. With creative workwear however, you can throw on as much colour as you want (within reason), meaning you can play around with your outfit a little more!

Colourblocking is BIG next season (and I mean BIG) and so is the colour red, so I combined both in yesterday's outfit to create a transitional piece that will take me seamlessly from this season to the next!

At first glance, this bright tomato-red suit may not look like something that is office appropriate, but don't let the colour put you off! Brighter reds are perfect for August and sunnier September days as they mimic the brighter fuschia tones that are so popular this SS17, whilst bringing in that red that was splashed all over the catwalk's for next season. The tailored fit makes this suit office-appropriate, and the details like the cropped leg and arm length as well as the small slits at the legs and arms, are nice touches which add to the laid-back office vibe.

I paired the suit with this ever-so-slightly cropped knit tank top to have a change from the slogan t-shirts I've been loving recently. The crisp colour of the white contrasted the suit perfected, and gave the look the easy-going, minimal vibe I wanted; I would always say that when over 50% of your outfit is bright colours, the 'less is more' rule applies to everything else, so as to not overcrowd- remember, you're channelling scandi chic rather than scandi ski jacket.

Lastly, I added my trusty white trainers and some black statement palm leaf earrings to keep it summery. I think I'll definitely be testing out more effortless smart-casual looks over this transitional period, so keep your eyes peeled.

Until the next post x
