Stripes were most definitely BIG during SS17, and although they're sticking around in AW17, they've had a revamp!
A bit early for this, but they're somewhat in the spirit for christmas with (bah) humbug style stripes being the way forward during this autumn winter! Luckily for EVERYONE, vertical stripes are super leg lengthening, so we can all look like we have supermodel pins this season (#winnerwinnerchickendinner). As it's more of an 'out-there' trend (in my opinion at least), I've also tried something different for pictures, so let me know what you think in the comments below.
Okay so I recently purchased these striped beetlejuice inspired jeans as they're having a real moment in fashion currently! They might not be for everyone seeing as they're very bold, but I've linked lots of other items of clothing that are equally on trend, that don't stand out too much; I'll discuss styling these items towards the end of the post!
So I decided to go for jeans for a few reasons;
1) They're so easy and comfortable wear, and I often wear jeans on a day to day basis.
2) I wanted trousers as I wanted to appear taller than I am, and as I said above, vertical stripes give this illusion.
3) The details on these jeans are AMAZING (i.e: rips)
The jeans I chose are more of a grey colour, and so stand out somewhat less than some of the other brighter options on the market at the moment making them perfect for anyone wanting to first dip into the trend rather than cannonball straight into the deep end. They're a skinny fit which means they're incredibly easy to style: pair them with a jumper, t-shirt, crop top, everything works! I paired the jeans with my favourite off-cream t-shirt, and then layered up some silver toned necklaces; I went for silver to mimic the grey tone, meaning although the necklaces helped to balance out the boldness of the stripes, they didn't clash or compete with them.
The dream would be to pair these striped trousers with combat boots, though for now I've paired them with some easy-going felt slip-ons; I guess this way, you can still see the frayed detail which I do love. I know I'll definitely be getting more use out of these jeans in the coming weeks as they so versatile, and they've given me the confidence to delve into more extrovert striped items, so we'll see in good time whether I go for any of the items I've picked out below!
